Guest Presenters

Eric Richard Nick Hancock

Nick is a lifelong Stoke city fan and cricket follower. He studied education at Cambridge University and is a former member of the Cambridge Footlights, becoming president in 1984. After graduation he became a PE teacher, but practised stand-up in his spare time. He made a number of television appearances in After Ten With Tarbuck, Saturday Live, Bostock’s Cup and Midsomer Murders. He went on to appear in Mr Bean, Me, You and Him and The Mary Whitehouse Experience. He created and then hosted Room 101 on BBC Radio and Television and became the perfect front man with his dry wit and humour to go on and present They Think It’s All Over, with team captains Gary Lineker and David Gower, until 2005.

Nick is a passionate fly angler and has filmed a series called Nick Hancock’s Fishing School and taught a number of students how to fly-fish. He is also a fantastic supporter of the Lord’s Taverners, serving as president of the North West Taverners and hosting their fundraising events. Nick loves walking and once climbed Kilimanjaro.

Eric Richard has been an actor for over 40 years. His early stage credits include work for the Royal Court, the Sheffield Crucible, Stratford East and the Bush, and he was an original member of Paines Plough.

Eric is most recognised for his role as Sergeant Bob Cryer in The Bill. Other credits include Dunkirk, Prick up your Ears, Home Sweet Home, Made in Britain, Eastenders and Casualty. His most recent stage work includes The Weir, Lark Rise to Candleford, Diary of a Football Nobody, Loot and Coolatully. As well as acting he has also directed various plays over the years.

As well as being a lifelong passionate Arsenal season ticket holder, Eric is also passionate about cars and motorbikes. He has been on many road trips often accompanied by his lovely wife Tina. One particular trip involved a solo bike ride from Canada to Panama – a staggering 10,000 mile trip. Amazing, but that’s Eric for you!
