LDF Website – Festival Funding

Our drama festival would not be able to provide the opportunity for people of all ages to showcase their talent without funds donated from various sources.

We aim to be self financing with valuable help from the local business community, Surrey County Council, community organisations and individual donations.

The main avenue for business support is through advertising in the Festival’s Souvenir programme. This attractive and comprehensive publication provides in depth information on all the participating groups and their plays and is considered to be one of the best quality drama festival programmes produced. It provides a valuable memento for all participants of the drama festival and our audiences. Advertising space in the programme is available from a quarter of a page to a full page with very favourable rates.

We are fortunate to receive grants through two local SCC Councillors, Chris Townsend and Tim Hall, from their Members’ Allocation. This allocation allows us to focus on providing a separate youth section of the drama festival, something that very few other drama festivals can offer.

Other grants have been received from local community organisations and a generous donation from The Cyril & Eve Jumbo Charitable Trust, managed by Hague Investments, the owner of Leatherhead Theatre.

Until 2011 the Drama Festival received an annual grant from Mole Valley DC but subsequently the Council has had no budget for this kind of arts event. An appeal went out in the local area asking businesses and the general public to donate £10 or more if they could to assist with the funding of the festival. The appeal proved very successful and all those who donated were acknowledged as Friends of the Festival with a Roll of Honour printed in the souvenir programme.

The Drama Festival Committee is very grateful to all our supporters for their generosity, without which we could not plan, promote and stage the biggest amateur drama festival in the country.
